Disabling Word 2010's 'Protected Document' Feature

MerusCase allows you to auto-populate your most commonly used letter templates, and then easily open and edit them.  Microsoft Word 2010 has a “Protected Document” feature that could prevent this and must be disabled.  To avoid the problem of documents downloaded from the Internet being “protected” and not editable, do the following:

Open MS Word 2010.  Hit ALT-F to open the File menu and then choose OPTIONS.

In the left column, select TRUST CENTER.  On the right, click TRUST CENTER SETTINGS.

In the left column, click PROTECTED VIEW.  On the right, un-check ENABLE PROTECTED VIEW FOR FILES ORIGINATING FROM THE INTERNET.

Hit OK until you are back to the MS Word interface.  Exit out of Word.  When you restart Word, this feature will be disabled.
